I started Apex Mountain Minerals in 2019 after spending ten years exploring and studying minerals across the American West. I’ve always had a deep respect for the forces that create these pieces, and I built this gallery to bring what is hidden deep beneath the mountains out into the light.

Based here in Utah, I focus on finding and curating high-grade specimens. I specialize in rare local pieces from our own backyard, as well as significant finds from around the world. To me, these aren’t just rocks. They are tangible masterpieces sculpted by time, holding a real, permanent value that paper stocks simply can’t match.

At my core, I am an avid rockhound, mineral collector, and explorer. While I hunt for great pieces of all sizes, my personal collection focuses heavily on Utah localities, pseudomorphs, and worldwide thumbnails.

Utah has an incredible mining history, and I love tracking down pieces from our classic, elusive spots. I’ve also always been fascinated by pseudomorphs—geological shape-shifters where one mineral replaces another over thousands of years, leaving behind a perfect ghost of the original crystal. Finally, I have a real passion for worldwide thumbnails. A great thumbnail is like the Arkenstone in miniature. It holds an entire universe of color and perfect geometry within a single inch, proving that a specimen doesn't have to be a giant boulder to be magnificent.

Because these crystals are formed by light and stone, capturing them accurately matters to me. I photograph every single specimen myself under precise, natural light with absolutely no artificial edits.
